Our inaugural celebrations started with drinks at the Bishop Vesey in Boldmere before moving on to Regards Restaurant where the team provided everyone with a traditional champagne cocktail with which to toast the birth of Bull Moon Hash House Harriers. Fun, frolics and fine Indian food followed...
Saturday morning was overcast but dry and the hares met at the Station pub in Sutton Coldfield at 2pm for a beer check. We were amazed and delighted to welcome over 60 hashers from all over the UK including, Bristol H3, IOWH3, FUKFMH3, MKH3, Ebley Full Moon H3, Riding the Moon H3, Donnington H3, Kennet & Avon H3, Bogs H3, Greyhounds H3, Vectis Lunatics H3 and more.
The trail left the pub, went through the station and past the town hall before heading down 'Cardiac Hill' into the shiggy delights of Sutton Park, hashers got their feet wet in streams and a good dose of shiggy. After losing 20 FRBs (highly planned), including Navigator, for 30 mins they were found running the second half of the trail in areas unknown to man let alone hashers before most had finished the first half! Hares bounded after them and eventually to their amazement, found them bewildered, being led to safety by none other than a "VIRGIN", yep a non hasher (with Navigator having to be checked over and found to be suffering from LPG withdrawal, soon to be remedied at the Station pub)! Hares soon guided them back to the regroup at the car park near Blackroot Pool for a beer stop.
Ale, lager, crisps and cakes were enjoyed and Latecomer received an unexpected birthday surprise... a hash organic "birthday cake". After the egg (with the hardest eggshells we've ever known, ouch!) and flour dousing, the hashers returned to the trail back through the park returning to the On Inn.
A raucous circle was held with guest RAs from many of the visiting hashes taking a turn, ably led by our own Stretch.
Not long after the end of the circle, birthday boy P-Rick arrived - a surprise arranged for him by Bus Stripper. After many welcomes and pints supplied to both P-Rick and Latecomer cut the impressive cake - celebrating their 60th and 40th birthdays and the inaugural run for Bull Moon H3.
The party continued into the evening...we can't share too much about that though... you had to be there - or better still... come to the next one! (Details can be found here)
